Media: Clay, Handbuilding
Students will handbuild a tropical bird out of clay while adding elements of design. They attached their elements using the method of slipping and scoring the pieces together. They use watercolor paint and googly eyes with feathers to finish the product.
Grade Level: 1st
Media: Chalk pastels, Glue drawing
Students will learn about the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh and create a chalk pastel glue drawing. They will learn blending techniques with the chalk pastels and create texture in the middle of their sunflowers.
Grade Level: 3rd
Media: Collage, Painting
Third graders will develop a landscape including a foreground, middle ground, and background using collage techniques. They will include lambs of three different sizes to emphasize how things look bigger and smaller when it comes to the distance in landscapes.
Grade Level: Kindergarten
Media: Clay
Kindergarteners will learn about clay and the method of scoring by creating different lines using a scoring tool. They will learn about warm and cool colors to use watercolor to paint their amulet while adding string and beads to learn about jewelry design in art.
Grade Level: Kindergarten
Media: Printmaking
Kindergarteners will read the book "Love Monster and the Last Chocolate". Then they will learn about printmaking and how to use found objects to print with such as toilet paper rolls. Then they will do drawings from observation to create their Love Monsters.
