Teaching Philosophy

As educators we have to understand that all children are unique and must have a supporting educational environment where they each can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially stronger. It is our goal to bring this supportive atmosphere to life so that we can build and encourage each and everyone of my students to meet their full potential aside from what they are experiencing at that moment in time.
My goal as an art educator is to value the time and commitment that students put forth daily in class. I continue to hold them to benchmarks of expectations within my classroom to work on becoming the best person they can be while still acknowledging their hard work and accomplishments within their artwork. I strive to promote creative thinking, positive challenges, interdisciplinary learning, and an appreciation for the art that surrounds our daily lives. I love to watch students in my classroom grow into artists by building their confidence and creativity along with persevering through challenges and focusing on long-term goals. I help them to work through constructive feedback and to collaborate with others along with learning to communicate visually.
I value the importance of every student learning differently and I love navigating through the process of delivering instruction to fit each and everyone of my student's learning styles. I can use my creative thinking skills to incorporate each and every type of learning style for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. I also have been very successful in creating lesson plans for neurodivergent learners by differentiating adaptive tools and supplies so that each student's needs are being met to criteria. It is extremely important to me that students receive the support that they need within their education to succeed in their goals. I will strive everyday to advocate for them and their style of learning to better their education and future.
By stimulating a classroom with diverse and inclusive students I plan to create a supportive community between my students within my classroom. I will expose them to many different media and mediums along with cross sectioning them into artists that are contemporary and multicultural. While including technology to do so for research to deepen their creative thinking along with presenting information to them through powerpoint presentations for visual appearance. I want them to feel freedom of exploration and expression within their works that they create next to one another. Along with striving for students to intertwine together as a team on collaborative projects within my room to build meaningful relationships that will last them a lifetime.
