Jasper Johns Paintings

Media: Watercolor, Oil pastels
Students will learn about the famous American artist Jasper Johns and his love for paintings of the alphabet, American flags, and targets combined. Students will create texture in each box and outline the boxes with oil pastels. They will then paint each box with watercolor to create a resist.
Oil Pastels
Step 1: Students will draw squares with oil pastels while filling in the alphabet within them
Watercolor
Step 2: Students will paint over their oil pastel letters using watercolor to create a resist from the wax of the oil in the pastels
