Royal Amulets
Grade Level: Kindergarten
Media: Clay, Watercolor
Students will learn about the famous American artist Jasper Johns and his love for paintings of the alphabet, American flags, and targets combined. Students will create texture in each box and outline the boxes with oil pastels. They will then paint each box with watercolor to create a resist.
Clay
Step 1: Students will roll clay into a ball and pound it with their fists into a pancake. Then they will score it using different lines.
Painting
Step 2: Students will paint their amulets with watercolor.
Adding Beads
Step 3: Students will string a piece of string through their amulet and add 5 beads to each side.
